Don't be a victim

At age 16, my stomach decided it did not like me anymore. Twenty-eight years later after many doctors, lots of personal research, working with an FDNP, and becoming an FDNP, I describe my stomach as “managed” and it is fantastic. My early to mid-thirties were probably the worst years, but I feel like I’m on the other side now. I became my own advocate by not accepting taking medication that “might” help, asking oodles of questions, and not letting people’s unsupportive comments about my diet get me down.
I would love to not be fearful of the bloat that makes it hard to stand up straight if I eat something that my stomach cannot tolerate. I would give anything to eat pizza... Mmmm.... red sauce and bread. I would love to be able to grab a bite to eat without running a full surveillance of the menu. I have been personally victimized by my stomach, but I accept it and pleased with the tremendous progress I have made with the love and support of my family and friends.
If you are interested in talking all things gut related, give me a shout. It’s amazing what you can do to help yourself if you put in the thought and effort.
