When we talk about macros, everyone’s mind goes directly to adding protein and cutting fat and carbs. Sure, this approach might work, but it depends on what your body needs to sustain itself. As a society, we tend to under eat the amount of protein we need. Protein is imperative to building and repairing the body, especially our muscles, and it also helps to keep us fuller longer. That being said, adding too much protein too quickly to your diet can upset the gut microbiome. Cutting fat sounds good until you realize that “low fat” foods have a significant amount of chemicals in them, and fat is needed for hormonal health. Finally, carbs... those evil little devils, right? Nope. Carbs are needed to give us energy.
The part of the equation that most people miss is that you have to fight the proper balance of these macronutrients to feel satiated and have energy. Metabolic Typing is a key component of finding out the proper macros for you and your body. It’s time to stop guessing and learn how your body uses these sources of fuel for long-term balanced success.
